In the flora tab there are other species of these in my neighborhood in the San Francisco Bay Area and opposite the Pacific in Kamakura, Japan, but this one in San Antonio, Texas seems to open only once, and at midday at that, and then closes and starts the fruiting – unique. Feedback welcomed.

Our pitcher started, was best and got the win (Matt Cain),
our big bat (Pablo Sandoval) got the only triple with bases loaded ever scored in the history of the All Star Game, scoring three,
the first of whom was our best hitter for average (Melky Cabrera) who won the MVP going 2 for 3, with 2 runs and 2 RBI, had the game’s only HR, and was the first and last man across home plate.
Together We’re Giant
Playing catch at the park we noticed what looked like fungus on a tree. Upon closer inspection it was a beehive – but unlike any I’ve seen before.

We took a room at The Pickwick for a night and streamed The Maltese Falcon online so we could watch it in the hotel where it was filmed.
John Huston’s classic 1941 version of the Dashiell Hammet novel, The Maltese Falcon, was filmed in part at The Pickwick Hotel in San Francisco. The film stars Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade and features Peter Lorre.
The next day we checked out and walked down to AT&T Park to watch the Giants vs the Reds on 2002 Team Bobblehead day – we got two Barry Bonds bobbleheads.
